Family Life

2 Months

I started this blog post a few days after Kane was officially 2 months and life got away from me so I am just now finishing it and posting it!

I can’t believe Kane is already 2 months old. Some times I can’t remember my life without the little guy and other times it seems like just yesterday that he was born. At his two month appointment, Kane measured 24.5 inches and weighed 13 pounds and 6 ounces.

Kane has had a busy two months. In month one, he met all his grandparents, aunts and uncles as well as lots of close friends. He also celebrated Mommy’s 30th birthday and Daddy’s first Father’s Day.

He started to take a bottle which was great for all of us. He seemed to be happy Daddy could feed him and it helped take some of the load off me. Michael fed him sometimes in the night and occasionally when I wanted a drink.

We started tummy time pretty early. Kane didn’t seem to mind it as long as he got milkies soon afterwards. We were part of the New Mom Ministry at our church. This was so helpful to me in navigating the first month and I look forward to watching Kane grow up with his friends from group.

Month two has been even more fun for all three of us. Kane was my hockey watching buddy for the playoffs and we cheered on the Habs all the way to the Stanley Cup Final!

And after the Canadiens lost, I finally let Kane wear his Stars clothes. I couldn’t let him wear Stars stuff while the Habs played the same team the Stars lost to last year for the Stanley Cup!

Michael made sure to spend time with Kane even though he was back at work, even while Kane was sleeping!

For the July 4th holiday, we took our first road trip as a family of three. We went to Aunt Brigid’s house in Austin. Kane did pretty well in the car even though we hit lots of traffic on the way down. We had lots of fun and Kane got to meet even more family.

Kane started to get more expressive and interactive in month 2. He likes to make serious faces at every one and even started to grab at toys.

Kane also celebrated his Aunt T’s birthday and 2 years clean as well as spent his first weekend away from his parents for Aunt Jacquie’s Bachlorette. He did well staying with Mamie all weekend. I think I missed him more than he missed me. At 2 months, Kane loves being held and hates being put down during the day. He also likes to be walked around more than to be sitting in one place. He enjoys playdates with his church friends even if he doesn’t play with them yet. He also likes going to community group meetings because Julianne and Brooke like to hold him!

I am going to try to get his 3 month update up more quickly this month, like hopefully next week when it actually hits!
